BGANZ Congresses
BGANZ congresses are held every two years. They are the premier venue for face-to-face information exchange and networking opportunities with the botanic gardens community in Australia and New Zealand. Their purpose is to provide opportunity for all gardens to connect with the up-to-date “big picture” issues for botanic gardens in conservation and cultural heritage management and inspire local action about global issues. While practical learning opportunities will feature at these conferences these are more the focus of the regional meetings and conferences.

The 5th BGANZ congress is planned for May 2011 in Alice Springs and will be held in conjunction with the Zoo and Aquarium Association (ZAA), formerly the Australasian Regional Association of Zoological Parks and Aquaria (ARAZPA).

The survey has now closed and is being analysed for further discussion in a workshop during the Regional Reality: Plant Plan(e)t Priority Congress in October in Mackay, Qld. Following the congress, the results will be presented to BGANZ Council so as to set future priorities for BGANZ.
