POSITION VACANT: BOTANIC GARDENS MANAGERFull-time appointment:Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens is situated on a 42 hectares forest site 5 kms south of Batemans Bay and displays plant species that occur naturally in the Collecting Region. Display gardens, walking tracks, picnic and barbeque facilities, a herbarium, information centre, children’s playspace and café are some of the features to be found in the Gardens complex. This position offers a unique opportunity to oversee, supervise and assist in all works undertaken at the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens (ERBG). You will be responsible for developing, maintaining and supervising works conducted at the Botanic Gardens in accordance with ERBG and Eurobodalla Shire Council (ESC) management plans. In addition to providing an extensive complement of horticultural services you will play a key role in managing and supporting a dedicated team of volunteers including training, OH&S advice, rostering and general assistance. The successful applicant will be a member of the Community Development division of Council, and will be based at the Gardens, reporting to the Manager Industry & Employment. Essential:Horticultural or Parks Management Qualifications (Cert IV or Diploma) and significant horticultural experience. Extensive knowledge of the use of Australian plants in amenity horticulture, and an appreciation of taxonomic and ecological displays. Strong experience in nursery management, team leadership and proven ability to work with a large group of volunteers. Highly developed interpersonal skills and the capacity to contribute positively to the future development of the gardens working with multiple stakeholders. Details:Salary in the range of $56,018 and $61,194 p.a plus 9% superannuation. Access to a fully maintained utility vehicle for work purposes. Subsidized rental on the residence at the Gardens. (in lieu of providing after-hours security to the Gardens).
