Botanic Gardens Day

Botanic Gardens Day – Conserving lives, our lives depend on it. (Last Sunday in May each year.)

Month of May #plantchallenge

Botanic Gardens Day is held across Australia and New Zealand on the last Sunday in May each year.

Launched in 2016, by ABC TV’s Gardening Australia Host, and Botanic Gardens Day Australian Ambassador, Costa Georgiadis, and New Zealand Ambassador, Jack Hobbs, the event now has over 100 botanic gardens and arbortetum participating.

Gardens hold many special events on the day every year – check local garden websites for details – but in response to Covid19 which saw all events cancelled, and most gardens closed, #plantchallenge was introduced to be held across the month of May every year. The response from botanic gardens staff, and the many lovers of plants across the two nations has been amazing to see.

If you have any questions please forward to Sam Moon:
