As we celebrate our role as Guardians of the Green this Botanic Gardens Week, join us to delve into an enlightening seminar on the Proteaceae family, hosted by a Kings Park’s Herbarium botanist.

Delve into the rich diversity and ecological significance of the Proteaceae family, which includes WA icons such as Banksia, Hakea and Grevillea. Our expert botanist will share insights into key morphological features that aid with identification and the unique adaptations and roles these plants play in their native habitats, as well as their importance in conservation efforts.

Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding of native flora and connect with fellow plant enthusiasts.

This event will include a guided walk covering a short distance on paved surfaces. Please dress for the outdoors including sun protection, and wear comfortable, enclosed shoes. Wheelchair accessible.

This event is being hosted by Kings Park and Botanic Garden.

Kings Park is both one of the world’s largest and most beautiful inner city parks and also a rich cultural heritage site. It is home to the spectacular Western Australian Botanic Garden, which displays over 3,000 species of the State’s unique flora – a sight unlike anywhere else in the world. With cafes, bushland walk trails, immaculate gardens and a variety of children’s play areas, leave plenty of time on your visit to discover the many sides of Kings Park.
