Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah is situated 1,000 metres above sea level in the World Heritage-listed Greater Blue Mountains. It features 28 hectares of manicured gardens with 21,000 global species on display, focusing on cool-climate plants from the Southern Hemisphere surrounded by UNESCO World Heritage Area wilderness on Darug country.

The Garden is divided into four distinct precincts, interlaced with pathways designed for wandering, exploring, and engaging with the natural environment. Within each of these precincts are several themed gardens, lawns and features including pavilions, cascades, and secluded benches. The Garden plays a key role in the conservation of plants from a range of ecosystems in Australia and around the world, with rare species and spectacular cool climate trees in abundance.

Planning a day trip to the quiet side of the mountain? Visitors can enjoy the tranquillity on the walking trails, wander the seasonal plant displays (including the picturesque Japanese maple trees and rare puyas in the Rock Gardens), or explore the story of the now-famous Wollemi Pine. Time your visit for one of our astronomy evenings or contemplative nature journalling classes or get involved in a school holiday program with our education team. Inspired to start your own garden? Shop for a great range of native and exotic plants propagated by skilled volunteers from the Garden’s living collection at Growing Friends Plant Sales.

The accessible boardwalk located within the basalt cap forest is our newest walking trail, offering visitors the most eastern-side views of the Blue Mountains.  Explore more highlights here.
