The Noosa Botanic Gardens are situated on the shores of Lake Macdonald and is a short drive from the hinterland town of Cooroy. The Gardens comprises eight hectares of sub-tropical native and non-native plant species.


It is home to an abundance of wildlife includng more than 100 bird species making it a wonderland for photographers and bird watchers alike.


With beautiful water views over the picturesque Lake Macdonald, the gardens are a great location for a leisurely stroll with the pooch or a family picnic. Drinking water, tables, public amenities, including a disabled toilet and shelters, are provided. Bench seats scattered throughout offer a place to enjoy the peace and tranquillity. Graded pathways make access a breeze for all visitors. The Gardens includes a Grecian-style amphitheatre, which provides a unique and stunning setting for weddings and events.

  • Shade Garden (open Monday to Friday 6 am – 3 pm)
  • Childrens play area (Dinosaur Dig)
  • Large lawn areas
  • Turtle feeding, bird watching
  • Plant collections include palms, conifers, cycads, eucalypts, camellias, bush tucker plants, Australian rainforest trees and many significant (endangered) plants
  • Friends volunteers are active with guided walks, plant propagation and garden care.
