BGANZ warmly congratulates Dale Arvidsson on his new appointment as Senior Curator at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens in Hobart.
After more than a decade of outstanding service at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha, City Botanic Gardens, and Sherwood Arboretum, Dale’s leadership has left a lasting legacy — from the construction of the Bonsai House, Visitor’s Centres and purpose-built facilities supporting education and wayfinding, enhancing and developing new collections, through to overseeing the development of innovative interpretation strategies, and the enhancement of major public green spaces across Brisbane.
Now, as Hobart’s gardens blaze with the final show of cool-season colour, Dale begins an exciting new role in one of Australia’s most iconic and historic botanic institutions. He brings with him a wealth of experience in public garden management, horticulture and plant collections, interpretation, and community engagement.
“I’ve loved meeting the passionate team, beginning to map out projects, and starting to build strong connections with Tasmania’s horticultural community,” Dale shared. “There’s a lot to do, but what a place to do it!”
We wish Dale every success as he steps into this next chapter at Australia’s second oldest botanic garden. His continued commitment to connecting people with plants and place is sure to thrive in Tasmania’s unique and vibrant landscape.
