Each November, Pollinator Week shines a spotlight on the bees, birds, butterflies, bats and other mini creatures that keep our gardens thriving. It’s an opportunity for communities to learn more about the diversity of Australian pollinators and what they can do to protect them.
This years theme is POLLINATOR EDUCATION: INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION recognising the vital role education plays in building long term care for our pollinators. School programs, community projects and hands-on learning help spark curiosity, inspire action and empower young people to become future pollinator champions.
Hosted by BGEN (Botanic Gardens Engagement Network) members:
- Mak Djukic, Education Coordinator, Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium of South Australia
- Graham Tupper, President, Australian Association of Friends of Botanic Gardens
- Peta Deacon, Education Team, Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Cooth-tha
With guest speakers from the Wheen Bee Foundation – Rowena Danks and Isabel Milincic.
We’ll share practical ideas for public engagement, ready-to-use resources, and inspiration from gardens already running standout pollinator programs.
You’ll walk away with:
- Event and activity ideas for all garden sizes
- Access to resources and templates
- Real examples from BGANZ member gardens
Whether you’re planning your first pollinator event or looking to refresh an established one, this session has something for you.
