Step into a slower rhythm this Botanic Gardens Week and immerse yourself in a day designed to calm the mind, awaken the senses, and reconnect you with nature.

10:00am – Tai Chi at the Fernery

Begin your day with a gentle Tai Chi session in the peaceful surrounds of the Fernery. This slow, flowing practice is perfect for all abilities and offers a beautiful way to ground yourself in nature.
Meet at the Fernery (more details to come).

11:00am – Slow but Sure Tree Walk

Join us for a guided walk through the garden’s iconic trees. This relaxed, slow-paced experience invites you to notice the details, stories, and beauty often missed when we rush.
Meet at the Conservatory.

12:00–1:00pm – Garden Tea at the Gatekeepers Cottage

Take a moment to pause and restore. The kettle will be on, with teapot-brewed tea and quality plunger coffee available. Sip, browse the garden’s history collection in the George Longley Room, and explore hidden natural wonders using a digital microscope in the Botany Room.

1:30pm – Nature Journalling Session

Finish the day with a creative and mindful nature journalling session. This gentle, accessible activity combines slow walking, observation, and creativity -no experience needed. Start at the Gatekeepers Cottage.

What to bring:

  • A plain paper notebook (Kmart is a great option)
  • A folding stool (optional, for your perfect garden sitting spot)

All other materials will be provided.

Come for one session or stay for the full day.
This is your invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and rediscover the simple joy of being in nature.
