Professional Groups
Regional
Botanic gardens play a vital role in outreach and education, focusing on plant conservation, sustainability, Regional Groups allow professionals to address local issues more effectively, share relevant knowledge, and build a stronger support system that is grounded in their regional needs. Topics covered often still have broader applicability to the membership, so valuable learnings can be gained from accessing their meeting resources or attending their events.
There are 4 BGANZ regional groups:
- Victoria
- NSW/ACT
- Queensland
- New Zealand.
Each group aims to:
- Provide an open and supportive platform for knowledge sharing for all levels of expertise.
- Build local networks and foster relationships that may lead to future collaboration, partnerships or opportunities for joint initiatives.
- Collaborative problem solving, support and peer mentoring. More experienced professionals can guide newer members, share advice or offer resources.
- Facilitate access to regional specific funding opportunities.
- Act as a collective voice to advocate for interests of its members at a local or state level.
- Organise local events, workshops, and meetings, which provide members with hands-on learning experiences.
- Tailor topics to regional specific challenges.
