Plant Health Australia (PHA) and BGANZ Partnership

Improving national biosecurity outcomes through partnerships
“BGANZ is delighted to partner with Plant Health Australia (PHA) with the aim of strengthening plant biosecurity across our sector and the broader plant industries.” – Chris Russell, BGANZ President
Our partnership with Plant Health Australia will enable BGANZ to deliver a professional development program across 2 years. The program will focus on providing training associated with the living collection database, currently in development.
“Having worked for the past three years on a pilot project with a number of botanic gardens to form the Botanic Gardens Biosecurity Network and Botanic Gardens Surveillance Network, PHA welcomes the opportunity to support BGANZ to provide training for their living collections database and the biosecurity outcomes this will facilitate.” – David Gale, Manager, Data Management and Surveillance Communities
Plant Health Australia is the national coordinator of the government-industry partnership for plant biosecurity in Australia. The purpose of PHA is for government and industry to have a strong biosecurity partnership that minimises pest impacts on Australia, enhances market access and contributes to industry and community sustainability.
“Our gardens are at the forefront of plant biosecurity management and BGANZ welcomes the opportunity to share our knowledge with PHA.” – Chris Russell, BGANZ President
